About Riwayat from Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026
Riwayat is the falsa pink entry in the Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026 collection, and one of three designs in the range built on poly net rather than organza. The word riwayat means tradition, and the design earns the name through its construction rather than its colour: this is a heavily panelled shirt with eight separate front chak and back panels, a neckline worked in two parts, and close to four metres of daman border. Poly net is softer and more fluid than organza, so a shirt cut from these panels falls and moves rather than holding a rigid flare. Aangan supplies it as an original unstitched three-piece for customers across India.

- Trouser - dyed raw silk, four yards
- Colour - falsa, a deep rose pink
- Type - unstitched three-piece
What Arrives in the Set
The piece count matters on a design like this, because a tailor needs to know before cutting how much of the shirt is pre-embroidered and how much has to be assembled. Riwayat includes two front centre right panels, eight front chak and back panels, a front and back daman border running 3.96 metres, two embroidered sleeves, a neckline patti of 0.98 metres and a separate neckline patch. The dupatta comes as 1.98 metres of embroidered poly net with two pallu sections and four pallu centre patches. The trouser is four yards of dyed raw silk.
The Embroidery
The work on Riwayat is silver and gold thread on falsa pink, with embellishment concentrated along the daman, the neckline and the sleeve length. Because the base is sheer poly net, the embroidery reads as the primary surface rather than as decoration laid over solid fabric - which is why the panel work is distributed across so many separate pieces rather than printed continuously. On a shirt this heavily bordered, the daman is where most of the visual weight sits, so hem length becomes the single most important stitching decision.
Stitching and Styling
With eight chak and back panels supplied, Riwayat is designed to be cut as a flared or kalidaar shirt rather than a straight one. A tailor working this set will typically join the panels into a gently flared silhouette and place the daman border at the finished hem. Poly net is sheer, so a lining is essential - most tailors in India will use a matching crepe or santoon slip. The four yards of raw silk give you room to choose: a straight trouser uses the least, a gharara or a lightly flared pant will use most of it. Confirm the plan with your tailor before the first cut, since the border lengths are fixed and cannot be extended.
Which Occasion Riwayat Suits
Falsa pink is a saturated evening colour, which puts Riwayat squarely in sangeet, reception and engagement territory rather than daytime functions. It photographs well under warm indoor lighting, where the silver and gold thread separates cleanly from the pink base. If you are looking for something lighter for a mehndi or a daytime nikah, the pastels in the same collection are the better direction - see Sukhan in light pista or Dastaan-e-Noor in light peach.
Care and Storage
- Dry clean only - poly net and raw silk both react badly to home washing.
- Do not bleach, do not wring, and dry in shade.
- Store the stitched suit in a cotton cover - poly net snags easily against rough surfaces and zips.

FAQs
FAQs
Is Riwayat stitched or unstitched?
Unstitched. You receive embroidered poly net panels, borders, sleeves, the dupatta and four yards of raw silk trouser fabric. Aangan does not stitch - your own tailor cuts to your measurements.
What fabric is Riwayat made from?
The shirt and dupatta are embroidered poly net. The trouser is dyed raw silk. The colour is falsa, a deep rose pink.
What exactly does the set include?
Two front centre right panels, eight front chak and back panels, a 3.96 metre front and back daman border, two sleeves, a 0.98 metre neckline patti, one neckline patch, a 1.98 metre dupatta with two pallu sections and four pallu centre patches, and a four-yard dyed trouser.
Does it need lining?
Yes. Poly net is sheer, so a lining slip in crepe or santoon is standard. Discuss this with your tailor when you hand over the fabric.
Can the trouser be stitched as a gharara?
Four yards of raw silk is usually enough for a gharara or a lightly flared pant, though a straight trouser uses less. Confirm with your tailor before cutting, as the fabric quantity is fixed.
Is Riwayat suitable for a wedding function?
Yes. Falsa pink with silver and gold thread suits sangeet, reception and engagement functions under indoor lighting. For daytime events the pastel designs in the collection are a better fit.
How should it be washed?
Dry clean only. Do not machine wash, do not bleach, do not wring, and dry in shade.
Is this original Afrozeh?
Yes. Aangan stocks original Afrozeh fabric from the Dastangoi 2026 collection, not replicas. The fabric composition and piece counts follow the label's own specification.
