More Description

About Sukhan from Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026

Sukhan means speech, and it is the simplest construction in the Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026 collection. Where Qissa runs to eighteen shirt pieces and Afsaan to fourteen, Sukhan is built from three front panels, a single back length and one continuous hem border. That is not a shortcut - it means the shirt can be cut cleanly without a dozen seams interrupting the embroidery, which suits the light pista colourway. The jamawar trouser is the other distinguishing feature, adding a woven, slightly substantial bottom beneath a sheer organza top.

What Arrives in the Set

One embroidered shirt centre panel of 450mm, one right panel and one left panel of the same width, a 0.98 metre embroidered back, a single front and back hem border, and two embroidered sleeves. The dupatta is 2.60 metres including its pallu, with four corner patches. The trouser is four yards of dyed jamawar. Nine pieces in total, which makes this one of the easier sets in the range to hand over to a tailor.

The Embroidery

Silver floral work with shimmering embellishment on light pista organza. Pista is a soft green that shifts with the light - cooler in daylight, warmer under indoor lamps - and silver rather than gold thread keeps it from turning yellow-toned. The four dupatta corner patches are the only concentrated embroidery on the drape; the rest is the pallu run, which keeps the dupatta light enough to fall properly rather than sitting stiffly on the shoulder.

Stitching and Styling

With three front panels and a single back length, Sukhan cuts naturally as a straight or mildly A-line shirt rather than a heavy kalidaar. The single continuous hem border means the finished length is effectively decided by where that border sits, so settle on shirt length before anything is cut. Organza needs lining - a pista or ivory crepe keeps the colour true, while white can make the green look washed out. Jamawar is heavier than raw silk and holds a crease well, so it suits a straight trouser or a structured gharara more than a soft flare.

Which Occasion Sukhan Suits

Light pista is a daytime colour. It is well suited to a mehndi, a morning nikah, a dholki or a daytime engagement, and it stays comfortable through long outdoor functions because organza is the coolest base in the collection. For evening events the saturated designs carry better - see Riwayat in falsa pink or Mehfil in velvet.

Care and Storage

  • Dry clean only - jamawar in particular should never be machine washed.
  • Do not bleach, do not wring, and dry in shade.
  • Store in a cotton cover - organza snags easily and pale green shows marks.

FAQs

Is Sukhan stitched or unstitched?

Unstitched. You receive embroidered organza shirt panels, an organza dupatta and four yards of jamawar trouser fabric. Aangan does not stitch - your own tailor cuts to your measurements.

What fabric is Sukhan made from?

The shirt and dupatta are embroidered organza. The trouser is dyed jamawar. The colour is light pista.

How is jamawar different from raw silk?

Jamawar is a heavier woven fabric that holds a crease well, so it suits a straight trouser or a structured gharara more than a soft flare.

How many pieces are in the set?

Nine in total - three shirt panels, a 0.98 metre back, one hem border, two sleeves, a 2.60 metre dupatta with four corner patches, and the trouser fabric. It is one of the simpler sets in the collection to stitch.

What lining should be used?

A pista or ivory crepe keeps the colour true. A stark white lining can make the pale green look washed out through the sheer organza.

Is Sukhan suitable for daytime events?

Yes. Light pista suits a mehndi, a morning nikah, a dholki or a daytime engagement, and organza stays cool through long outdoor functions.

How should it be cared for?

Dry clean only. Do not bleach, do not machine wash, do not wring, and dry in shade. Store in a cotton cover.

Is this original Afrozeh?

Yes. Aangan stocks original Afrozeh fabric from the Dastangoi 2026 collection. Fabric composition and piece counts follow the label's own specification.
