More About Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026

What Afrozeh Dastangoi 2026 Is

Dastangoi 2026 is Afrozeh's formal and wedding-season line for the year, built as ten distinct designs rather than one idea repeated in different colours. The collection takes its name from dastangoi, the Urdu tradition of spoken storytelling, and the individual designs follow the same thread: Qissa is a tale, Lafz a word, Mehfil a gathering, Sukhan speech itself. Every design in this range ships as an unstitched three-piece set - an embroidered shirt, an embroidered dupatta, and trouser or sharara fabric. Aangan stocks the complete collection for customers across India, in the original Afrozeh fabric exactly as the label produced it.

Fabrics Used Across This Collection

Fabric is the most useful way to narrow this collection down, because the ten designs are spread across four very different shirt bases and five bottom fabrics. Each behaves differently once stitched, and each suits a different season and function.

  • Organza - crisp, sheer and structured. Holds a flared shape rather than falling flat, and stays cool through long functions. Used on five designs.
  • Poly net - softer and more fluid than organza, with less body. Suits looks built around drape and movement. Used on three designs.
  • Velvet - the heaviest base in the range, used on one design and best suited to winter weddings.
  • Zari gold - a metallic woven base used on one design, shirt and dupatta together.
  • Bottoms - raw silk, jamawar, tissue zari, organza and poly net, depending on the design. Most come as four yards of dyed fabric; two designs include embroidered or panelled bottoms.

The Ten Designs

  • Riwayat - falsa pink poly net shirt and dupatta with a dyed raw silk trouser. Eight front chak and back panels, and close to four metres of daman border.
  • Afsaan - lemon organza shirt with a poly net dupatta and raw silk trouser. The most construction-heavy piece here, with twelve lehnga panel patches.
  • Mehfil - shocking pink velvet built as a jacket suit, with a separate shirt, an organza dupatta and a twelve-piece sharara border.
  • Qissa - light grey organza on organza with tonal threadwork, paired with a raw silk trouser.
  • Rang-e-Dastaan - zari gold shirt and dupatta with an embroidered raw silk trouser, one of only two designs where the bottom is embroidered rather than dyed.
  • Afsun - white poly net throughout, including a twelve-panel embroidered sharara with its own four-metre border.
  • Sukhan - light pista organza shirt and dupatta with a jamawar trouser for a slightly heavier bottom.
  • Dastaan-e-Noor - light peach organza with a dyed organza sharara and a separate sharara inner, so the volume is already accounted for.
  • Lafz - ferozi blue poly net with a tissue zari trouser that catches light against the pastel.
  • Hikayat - off white organza shirt with a zari gold dupatta and jamawar trouser, ten embroidered maxi panels and nearly eight metres of dupatta border.

Choosing by Occasion

For a mehndi or a daytime function, the pastels do the most work - Sukhan in pista, Dastaan-e-Noor in peach and Lafz in ferozi all sit comfortably in daylight without competing with the bride. For a nikah or walima where ivory and gold are expected but a lehnga is not, Hikayat and Qissa are the natural picks. For a reception or sangeet where the outfit is meant to register, Mehfil in velvet and Rang-e-Dastaan in zari gold carry the most visual weight. Afsun is the collection's white sharara, which is a specific look and an excellent one when it suits the occasion. Season matters too: velvet reads beautifully at a December wedding in North India and becomes uncomfortable at an outdoor function in May.

What Unstitched Means at Aangan

Every design in this collection is sold unstitched. You receive the embroidered panels, borders, sleeves, neckline pieces, dupatta and bottom fabric, and your own tailor cuts to your measurements. On a formal suit with this much panel work, that usually produces a better result than a standard size - particularly across the shoulder and in hem length, where ready-made formals tend to disappoint. It also leaves the styling open: a panelled front can be cut as a straight shirt or a flared kalidaar, and a four-yard bottom can become a straight trouser, a gharara or a sharara depending on how your tailor works the fabric. Aangan does not operate a stitching service. We supply original Afrozeh fabric and the construction decisions stay with you.

Care and Storage

  • Dry clean only - do not machine wash and do not wring.
  • Do not bleach, and dry in shade rather than direct sun.
  • Organza and poly net hold embroidery well but snag against rough surfaces - store stitched pieces in a cotton cover rather than plastic.

Buying Original Afrozeh in India

Everything listed here is original Afrozeh, not a replica or a copy run. The fabric composition, piece counts and embroidery placements published on each product page come from the label's own specification for that design, which is why the panel and border measurements are stated in metres and yards rather than described loosely. Prices shown are final and inclusive. If a design shows fewer than four photographs, that reflects what the label released for it rather than anything missing from the set.
